Help Us Cross the Finish Line — Just $12,000 to Go!

We’re almost there.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’ve raised $46,099.69 toward our annual fundraising goal. We’re so close — just $12,000 more to go. That final stretch may seem small, but it makes a huge difference in the lives of our Northeast Kingdom neighbors.

This isn’t money that sits in a bank account.

This isn’t money spent on overhead or marketing.

This is money that goes directly to people.

  • It keeps the heat on for seniors struggling through our long Vermont winters.
  • It helps someone afford their prescriptions when Medicare falls short.
  • It covers emergency pet food and vet care for a beloved companion animal.
  • It brings a hot meal and a friendly face to a homebound elder.
  • It ensures a neighbor doesn’t have to choose between groceries and electricity.

Your donation is more than charity. It’s compassion in action.

Here’s what your support looks like in real life:

💬 “The Council on Aging has helped me stay in my home as I’m growing older. I now have leukemia among other illnesses and it’s not easy on me to help myself, so I rely on visiting nurses, PT, OT, and the Council on Aging to help me with things like Meals on Wheels, LTCMD, and RCT for rides.”
Marilyn Skorker, Barton, VT

💬 “I feel that the Council on Aging and its programs are good for people like me, for the support that I need, so that I can stay in my home. It’s better for people to be with their family in their own environment to heal… If supports like this were cut, I feel like a lot of people will lose out and ultimately give up on themselves and their health.”
Alberta Stryffeler, Barton, VT

🧡 Case managers recently helped Earl and Wilma Shatney—he has Parkinson’s, and their apartment had too many stairs. Our team coordinated with housing authorities, offered compassionate listening, and pulled together $500 in emergency funds to help them relocate to a safer place with more support. That small amount changed everything for them.

These are just a few of the real lives touched by your donations. Behind every number is a neighbor.

In a time when the world feels uncertain, your gift offers something powerful: hope, stability, and real help to those who need it most.

Please help us close the gap.

Donate online at
nekcouncil.org, mail a check to 481 Summer Street, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819, or stop into our offices in Newport or St. Johnsbury.

100% of your donation goes toward helping local people. No fluff, no middlemen — just real impact for real lives.

Together, we can make sure no one is left behind.

Thank you for being part of this community of care.
