Move Better. Feel Better. Live Better.


The Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging offers free wellness programs to help older adults stay strong, steady, and connected. All classes can be adapted for seated participation to meet individual needs.

We focus on evidence-based classes that are proven to improve health, mobility, and confidence.


Tai Chi for Falls Prevention

This gentle, low-impact class improves balance, flexibility, and muscle strength—making it especially helpful for fall prevention. Movements are slow and easy to follow.


Open to adults of all fitness levels.


Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP)

Led by trained instructors, AFEP is a chair-based class designed to reduce pain and

stiffness while improving strength and range of motion.


Great for people with arthritis, joint pain, or mobility challenges.

Bone Builders

Designed to help improve strength, balance, and flexibility through simple, weight-bearing exercises.

This volunteer-led class uses light hand and ankle weights to support healthy aging and help reduce the risk of falls.


Perfect for older adults looking to stay strong and steady.


Chair Yoga

 A gentle yoga class using a chair for support, focusing on breathing, stretching, and mindful movement.

Ideal for beginners or anyone with balance or mobility concerns.

This welcoming class combines simple movement and rhythm exercises in a fun, judgment-free environment.

Led by theater professional Janet Warner-Ashley, the Quahog class encourages

creativity, connection, and confidence—no dance or theater experience needed.


Half-time tea break included.

NEW! Arthritis Foundation 
Aquatic Program

The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program is a warm-water exercise program suitable for any fitness level. The sessions include gentle range-of-motion exercises, muscle strengthening, and socialization activities. Led by a trained program leader, these enjoyable and motivational classes are held in the water, though swimming skills are not necessary. 
There is a $5 fee to offset the cost of the use of the facility.
