Pets4Life: Because No One Should Have to Choose Between Feeding Themselves or Their Pet
At the Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging, we know how much a pet can mean—especially for older adults living alone. For many, a beloved dog or cat is more than a companion. They’re family, best friend, and emotional lifeline all in one.
That’s why we created Pets for Life.
We’ve seen it far too often: older Vermonters sacrificing their own meals—including their home-delivered ones—to make sure their pet eats. No one should ever have to make that choice.
Pets for Life helps make sure they don’t have to.
What We Do:
- Provide pet food, litter, and essential supplies
- Deliver items directly to the homes of older adults
- Work closely with case managers and volunteers to identify and support those in need
100% Donor-Funded
This program receives no state or federal funding. Every supply we deliver is made possible by community members who believe, like we do, that no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and their pet—or face giving up a cherished companion because they can’t afford food or care.
